Swedish automaker Volvo has revealed that it has recorded a 40 per cent sales growth in India in the Jan-Sep time period of 2023. Volvo has sold approximately 1,751 vehicles in the January to September period of 2023 whereas only 1,251 vehicles were sold in the same period of 2022.
Volvo India also revealed that their XC60 SUV accounts for the majority of the sales growth by contributing 35 per cent in the total sales figure. The brand also revealed that along with the XC60 SUV, their electric models like the XC40 Recharge and recently launched C40 Recharge are also doing well in the Indian EV market. Volvo has sold around 419 units of the XC40 Recharge in India in the first nine months of 2023. The C40 Recharge was launched in India in September 2023 and has already received 100 booking orders in just one month post its official launch.

Commenting on this, Jyoti Malhotra, Managing Director, Volvo Car India said, "It has been a remarkable three quarters with an encouraging 40% sales growth from January to September 2023 as compared to last year, driven by the XC60 and our Pure Electric offerings XC40 Recharge & C40 Recharge."
Volvo’s XC60 SUV is priced at Rs 67.85 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. Both the electric models of the brand, the XC40 Recharge and the C40 Recharge are priced at Rs 56.90 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 61.25 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively.
Volvo currently sells five models in India that include one sedan - Volvo S90 and four SUVs that include two ICE vehicles - XC60 and XC90 and two pure electric models - XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge. In recent news, Volvo also revealed that it aims to become all-electric by 2030 and will stop the production of all diesel cars by 2024.
