EVs have recently become very popular, not just in India but globally. Automobile manufacturers like Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Hyundai Motors, MG Motor India, BYD, Ather Energy and Ola Electric have all contributed majorly to this transition towards opting for electric vehicles over conventional ICE cars or hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) in India. At present, almost every car manufacturer is coming up with new electric cars. The two-wheeler market isn't an exception and some big names like TVS and Bajaj have already tried their hands at e-bikes and e-scooters. There are many reasons as to why people across the globe are transitioning towards electric vehicles. Here are some key factors that are making EVs stand out in comparison to HEV or ICE cars.

Greater Range
EVs are capable of offering longer driving ranges than hybrid cars. The battery technology equipped in cars is more advanced now as electric cars can now travel more than 200 kilometres before needing to recharge again. This indicates that EVs are good for both everyday driving and longer journeys.
Lower Maintenance Cost
Hybrid cars are generally more expensive to maintain as they have lots of mechanical parts with two power sources - an engine and a motor along with a battery pack as well. Additionally, not all car mechanics possess enough knowledge about how to fix them. On the other hand, EVs are simpler and easier to maintain. You mainly need to take care of the battery, which usually has an eight-year warranty.
Technological Advancements
Electric cars offer newer technology and are more advanced than conventional cars owing to the rapid technology improvements. This means longer-lasting batteries, quicker charging, self-driving features and linking up with smart grids. EVs are at the forefront of automotive innovations with automobile giants like MG Motor, Mahindra, Tata and Hyundai launching EV models MG Comet, XUV 400, Nexon.ev and Hyundai IONIQ 5. These cars are equipped with top-notch technology features to enhance driving experience while hybrid cars are not able to keep up with these advancements.

Environment-Friendly
EVs are also a better alternative to HEV cars as they are known to be more sustainable when it comes to the carbon emissions emitted from traditional cars. Whereas, hybrid cars still use regular engines and produce pollutants while running on gasoline. Choosing an electric car over HEV or ICE cars can help in reduction of air pollution which in return results in keeping the air clean and making our environment healthier.
Home Charging Convenience
EVs offer another significant edge over HEV cars as they can be conveniently charged at home. People who own electric cars can set up a charger at home and can easily recharge their cars overnight and have a fully charged battery every morning. This eliminates the need of regularly going to a gas station for refuelling your car.
