Maruti Suzuki, one of India’s largest automakers, has sent some of its cars for crash tests at Bharat NCAP, a program that assesses vehicle safety. According to media reports, a senior government official mentioned that Maruti Suzuki has sent several vehicles to be tested under this programme. While it is not clear which models have been sent for testing,  the company confirmed sending its flagship SUVs Brezza and Grand Vitara for these crash tests.

Maruti Suzuki is actively working on improving the safety of its vehicles, especially with flagship models like the Brezza, Grand Vitara and Fronx, aiming for better ratings in crash tests and addressing concerns about safety features. Maruti Suzuki has been focusing on adding safety features to its new cars. In the past, some of its models tested at Global NCAP didn't score well in safety ratings. Models like Swift, WagonR, and S-Presso received low ratings. This led to criticism about the build quality of Maruti's smaller cars. However, Maruti has been improving safety features to aim for better ratings in crash tests.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza Safety Features

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza is considered one of the safer cars from the manufacturer as it  earned a four-star safety rating from Global NCAP five years ago. Since then, Maruti has updated the Brezza with more safety features. Now it comes with at least two airbags, with higher variants offering six airbags, a 360-degree camera, ABS with EBD, traction control, ISOFIX child seat mounts and more. It is likely that the Brezza will perform even better in safety tests at Bharat NCAP.

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Safety Features

The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara will undergo a crash test programme like the Bharat NCAP for the first time. The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara was launched in 2022 in partnership with Toyota. In terms of safety, the Grand Vitara is also equipped with six airbags, although not standard across all variants. Other safety features include seat belt warnings for all passengers, a 360-degree camera, Head-Up Display, ABS with EBD, ESP, traction control modes, and more.
