Amas-Dharbhanga Expressway: Bihar is set to get its first access-controlled expressway with the construction of the Amas-Darbhanga expressway in steady progress to take shape. The state is witnessing the construction of its first access-controlled national highway, which promises to revolutionise travel in the region. The Amas-Darbhanga Expressway, part of the Bharatmala Pariyojana, will significantly ease the journey for commuters.

Amas-Dharbhanga Expressway Update: Stretch To Connect Three Airports

The construction of this expressway is currently underway between Aurangabad and Darbhanga, connecting a total of seven districts. This expressway will also link three major airports: Patna, Gaya, and Darbhanga, enhancing regional connectivity.

Bihar First Access Controlled Expressway Launch Date

The project is progressing rapidly in Bihar, with a revised completion target set for 2025, having initially been slated for July of the current year.

The expressway will start from Amas in the Aurangabad district, situated on the Delhi-Kolkata National Highway 19 (NH-19), and will extend to Nawada village in the Darbhanga district on National Highway 27 (NH-27). Along its route, it will connect through seven districts, including Arwal, Jehanabad, Patna, Vaishali, and Samastipur.

- The access control design of the expressway will make it comparatively accident-safe. The expressway will have limited entry and exit points, reducing the likelihood of accidents and ensuring a smoother journey.

- Vehicles will be able to travel at a speed of 100 km/h on the Amas-Darbhanga Expressway, which is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 5,000 crore.

- The 200-feet-wide expressway is a four-lane road.

- One of the significant advantages of the expressway is the reduction of distance. The expressway will significantly reduce the distance between Samastipur and Patna, cutting it down from 100 km to just 65 km.
