The Haryana State Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) will begin repair work on the Manesar–Palwal section of the Kundli–Manesar–Palwal (KMP) Expressway next week. The 53-km stretch has been in poor condition for years, causing frequent accidents due to potholes, illegal cuts, and damaged railings.

According to officials, the state government’s High Power Purchase Committee has approved a budget of Rs 48 crore for the project. The work will involve repairing potholes, resurfacing subsided areas, closing over 20 illegal cuts, and fixing broken railings.

The Manesar–Palwal section is considered the most deteriorated part of the KMP Expressway, particularly in Nuh district, where illegal cuts allow vehicles to enter the highway from anywhere. “After repairs, people will have no complaints regarding the expressway,” said Arun Garg, Deputy General Manager, HSIIDC.

The condition of the stretch has forced vehicles to run at less than half the prescribed 120 kmph speed limit, with heavy vehicles, comprising 75 per cent of traffic, causing further wear and rutting on the tarmac. Large potholes, especially in Gurugram’s border areas, make night driving extremely unsafe.

To enhance safety, the project will also include the installation of yellow rumble strips at critical points to prevent drowsy driving and signage ahead of curves. Officials said the expressway will be given a “completely new look” once repairs are complete.
