One woman has died and five others are missing after a boat capsised in the Son River near Raghunathpur village in Aurangabad’s Nabinagar block on Friday. The search for the missing individuals is ongoing, with divers and senior officials at the scene.
The boat was carrying a total of 22 villagers, including 20 women, who were crossing the river to travel to Son Dila. Following the accident, 16 passengers, including 14 women, were successfully rescued.
According to villagers, the body of Tamanna Parveen, 21, daughter of Salim Ansari of Badem village, has been recovered. A search operation is underway for the five other missing women.
Top district officials have camped at the site to oversee the rescue efforts. Those present include Block Development Officer (BDO) Arun Kumar Singh, Circle Officer (CO) Nikhat Parveen, Disaster In-charge Antara Kumari, and local police station heads.

The BDO confirmed that SDO Santan Kumar Singh and Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) Sanjay Kumar Pandey have also reached the location. District Magistrate Shrikant Shastri is en route. Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been summoned to aid in the search.
