A unique electoral situation is developing in two of Patna's assembly constituencies, Mokama and Danapur, as the candidates for both seats are currently incarcerated. In their absence, their sons and daughters have taken charge of the campaign efforts.
Mokama Constituency
Candidate: The JDU candidate and former MLA, Anant Singh, is imprisoned in connection with the Dulalchand Yadav murder case.
Campaigners: His sons, Ankit Singh and Abhishek Singh, are leading the campaign to preserve their father's political legacy.
Strategy: Despite Anant Singh's absence, the electoral atmosphere remains charged. His sons are campaigning extensively, going from village to village to meet voters, seek their blessings, and appeal for votes by highlighting their father's past development work.
Danapur Constituency
Candidate: The RJD candidate and current MLA, Ritlal Yadav, is incarcerated in Bhagalpur jail in relation to a criminal case.
Campaigner: His daughter, Shweta Sinha, has enthusiastically taken command of the election campaign.
Strategy: Shweta Sinha is focusing on connecting with the electorate through street-corner meetings and foot marches, with a particular emphasis on reaching out to women. Her campaign style is described as emotional, as she appeals to voters for support in her father's name.
Despite the candidates being in jail, the electoral fervour in both Mokama and Danapur remains undiminished. The primary difference is that the candidates' children are now campaigning as the public face of their fathers.
