In preparation for the upcoming assembly elections, the Bihar government has established 100 Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) demonstration centres across the state to educate voters about the EVM and VVPAT (Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail) systems.
Launched on July 15 under the directive of the Election Commission of India, these centres aim to familiarise citizens with the voting process through hands-on mock voting sessions.
Located in all district headquarters and sub-divisional offices, the centres are equipped with ballot units, control units, and VVPAT machines. Trained staff are present to guide citizens in their local languages, ensuring that every section of society understands the technology and procedure.
So far, around 15,000 people have visited the centres and received practical training in casting votes. Officials believe these efforts will enhance public trust in the transparency and integrity of the electoral process. The centres also address common doubts and misconceptions surrounding EVMs and VVPATs.
