Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraj Party (JSP) has reiterated that his party will contest all 243 seats alone in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, JSP's national president Uday Singh, and state president Manoj Bharti, said that the candidates will be announced around Navratri, starting from September 22.

Responding to the question of whether Prashant Kishor will contest the election or not, they said that the party will take a decision after careful consideration, as he is the architect and prominent face of JSP. If he contests the elections, he will have to be confined to one area for a few days.

Bharti said that JSP had started the preparations for the election in January. The first phase of the preparation for the selection of candidates has been completed between August 2 and 22. This has revealed the strengths and weaknesses of the party.

Uday Singh said that feedback will be taken regarding the selection of candidates. This will be done by talking to the people at the Panchayat and Block levels. 

The assembly elections are slated for November this year. The opposition Mahagathbandhan, comprising Rashtriya Janta Dal, Congress and VIP among others, are making efforts to dethrone the ruling coalition of BJP, JDU, LJP (RV) and HAM, led by CM Nitish Kumar.

The upcoming assembly polls have become intetesting with the entry of Jan Suraj Party. The Prashant Kishore-led party is pitching for a change by projecting his party as an option between the ruling and opposition alliances, who have ruled the state for long term. 

All the parties have started their preparations with seat-sharing and tocket distribution in the discussions.
