On Wednesday, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for Panchayati Raj Department schemes worth Rs 4,193 crore via video conferencing. Energy Minister Vijendra Prasad Yadav and Panchayati Raj Minister Kedar Prasad Gupta were also present.

The schemes include the construction of marriage halls in three panchayats of Kudhni block, Mohammadpur Mubarak, Kinaru, and Pakahi, along with the inauguration of several Panchayat Sarkar Bhavans (village council buildings).

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said the new facilities would ensure villagers no longer need to rely on private venues for social and cultural events. He urged that the panchayat buildings be used for official meetings, reviewing government schemes, and resolving public grievances.

At Pakahi panchayat, the local inauguration was performed by Mukhiya Vimla Devi, in the presence of Panchayat Secretary Anjani Singh and a large number of villagers. Several local leaders, including former Mukhiya Kameshwar Rai, Pappu Singh, Arun Singh, Upendra Rai, and BJP general secretaries Subhash Singh and Ashok Singh, also attended the ceremony. Villagers welcomed the initiative, noting it would make hosting events easier and benefit the general public directly.

Administrative approval has also been granted for the construction of a new Marwan block-cum-circle office with a residential complex. The Building Construction Department has requested a no-objection certificate from the BDO. The new office will replace the current building, which is spread across parts of Mohammadpur Sube and Jiyan Khurd panchayats.

On September 2, engineers inspected the site, and following their assessment, Executive Engineer Ravi Chandra ordered the demolition of the old building for the new construction. BDO Archana Kumari confirmed that approval has been received, and guidance will be sought from the District Magistrate after Dussehra to shift the office and issue the no-objection certificate.

The Marwan block and circle office had previously operated from a primary school and later moved to the Panchayat Samiti and MGNREGA building.
