Bihar Election 2025: Ahead of the much-hyped Bihar assembly election, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday announced an increase in the salary of Anganwadi workers and assistants of the state government. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Kumar asserted that the salary of Anganwadi workers will be increased from Rs 7,000 to Rs 9,000, adding that the salary of Anganwadi helpers will be increased from Rs 4,000 to Rs 4,500. He emphasised that Anganwadi workers play an important role in improving the nutrition and living standards of children and pregnant women in the state.
"Anganwadi workers and helpers play a crucial role in improving the nutrition and living standards of children and pregnant women in the state. Honoring their significant role, we have decided to increase their honorarium. The honorarium for Anganwadi workers has now been increased from Rs 7,000 to Rs 9,000, and the honorarium for Anganwadi helpers has been increased from Rs 4,000 to Rs 4,500, with instructions issued to the department accordingly," CM Nitish Kumar stated in his post.

Nitish Kumar further stated that the nutrition and health of pregnant women and children has significantly improved since he took charge as chief minister in 2005. "Since the formation of the government in November 2005, we have undertaken large-scale efforts to improve the nutrition and health of pregnant women and children. Through the Integrated Child Development Project, six types of services are being provided," Kumar stated in his post.

"Anganwadi workers and helpers play a vital role in delivering these services to beneficiaries through Anganwadi centers. Recognizing their significant contribution, the decision has been made to increase their honorarium. This will boost the morale of all Anganwadi workers and helpers and further enhance the quality of Integrated Child Development Services," he added. The state legislative election in Bihar is scheduled to take place in the later months of this year.
