From the academic session 2025–26, students who have passed the matriculation examination in Bihar will be enrolled in Class 11 in the same school from which they completed their secondary education, as per the latest directive from the Director of Secondary Education. However, if a student wishes to enroll in a different school, allocation may be made according to the prescribed rules.

Instructions regarding this new enrollment system have been issued to all District Education Officers, and a related communication has also been sent to the Secretary of the Bihar School Examination Board.

The Director emphasised that students who cleared the Annual Secondary Examination 2025 should apply for Class 11 admission via the Online Facilitation System for Students (OFSS), managed by the Board.

It was noted that all higher secondary schools are currently operating under state government policy, with adequate teaching staff in place following recommendations by the Bihar Public Service Commission. Despite the publication of results in March, the Class 11 admission process had yet to begin by the end of April, causing disruption to the academic calendar.

To avoid further delays, the Board has been directed to expedite the OFSS application process. Students should be admitted, wherever possible, to the same school from which they passed Class 10. If they apply to another institution, admissions must follow the rules, including submission of a transfer certificate and merit-based selection.

District Education Officers have also been instructed to ensure provisional admission for students who may lack required certificates at the time of enrollment.
