The Election Commission has taken serious note of the personal comments and videos emerging from the ongoing "AI war" between political parties during the Assembly election campaign. The Commission has issued strict guidelines regarding this matter.

It stated that the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) has been in effect since October 6. These provisions will also apply to all content posted by candidates and political parties on the internet, including social media.

Advice To Avoid Criticism Of Private Lives

The Commission has warned that according to the provisions of the Model Code of Conduct, criticism of other parties must be limited to their policies, programs, past record, and work. Parties and candidates must refrain from criticising any aspect of the private lives of leaders or workers of other parties that are not connected to their public activities.

Furthermore, it has advised against criticising other parties or their workers based on unverified allegations or distortions.

Action Against Spreading Misinformation

Stressing the need to uphold the integrity of the electoral process, the Commission has advised parties against the misuse of AI-based tools to create deepfakes that distort information or spread misinformation on social media platforms.

Additionally, all political parties, their leaders, candidates, and star campaigners have been directed to prominently label any synthetic or artificial content shared for campaigning on their social media platforms or in advertisements. Such content must be clearly marked using labels like "Artificial," "Digitally Enhanced," or "Synthetic Content."
