Bihar Election 2025: The speculations of a possible contest between poll strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor and RJD heavyweight Tejashwi Yadav on the Raghopur seat in the Bihar Assembly election came to rest after the Jan Suraaj handed announced Chanchal Singh, a local businessman, as its candidate from the high-profile seat. Earlier on Sunday, Kishor visited Raghopur and claimed that the former deputy chief minister will face defeat, leading to speculations of a contest between him and Tejashwi Yadav. However, Tejashwi Yadav did not respond to the attacks from Kishor, further stating that the Mahagathbandhan will form a government after the polls.

JSP national president Uday Singh on Tuesday handed the party symbol to Chanchal Singh for Raghopur, an assembly seat in Vaishali district. While the party had announced its two lists of candidates at crowded press conferences, the one-off announcement came away from media glare. Earlier on Sunday, Prashant Kishor stated that Tejashwi is considering contesting two seats, a situation similar to what Rahul Gandhi witnessed in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

"Tejashwi Yadav will then definitely lose Raghopur, just like his ally Rahul Gandhi, who in 2019 had won Wayanad but conceded defeat in Amethi," Prashant Kishor told the reporters. Earlier on Monday, Jan Suraaj released another list of 65 candidates for the upcoming elections on Monday, taking a lead over its rivals in ticket distribution.

While providing details, Prashant Kishor stated that the list is in accordance with the party's effort to give representation to various sections in proportion to their population. He stated that while 11 candidates are from backward classes, 17 from extremely backward classes, and nine from minority communities, the rest are from the general category. The party had earlier released its first list of 51 candidates on October 9.
