The Patna district administration has intensified actions against the violations of the Model Code of Conduct,  implemented in view of the assembly elections. Following strict instructions from the District Election Officer-cum-District Magistrate, Dr Thyagarajan SM, an intensive vehicle inspection campaign was launched across the entire district from Sunday morning. 

During this drive, 23 vehicles were seized for alleged violations of the code of conduct, and First Information Reports (FIRs) were registered in six cases.

The District Magistrate stated that violations of the provisions of the Model Code of Conduct will not be tolerated under any circumstances. The names of representatives from various political parties are also included in connection with the seized vehicles and FIRs. 

On Sunday, the DM held a review meeting on polling preparations with SSP Kartikeya K Sharma, all Sub-Divisional Officers, Sub-Divisional Police Officers, Returning Officers, and the nodal officers of 21 cells. In the meeting, all were instructed that any attempt to disturb the peace would not be tolerated. 

He directed that effective action be taken under relevant sections against anti-social and criminal elements, considering their history. Strict preventive action should also be taken against the land mafia, sand mafia, liquor mafia, organised gangs involved in violating liquor prohibition, and individuals involved in illegal economic activities or crime, under the relevant sections 126, 135, and 129 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. 

For those who have not yet deposited their weapons, the DM ordered strict enforcement of the Arms Act to ensure their submission. Legal action will be taken against any political party, candidate, official, or anyone else who violates the provisions of the Model Code of Conduct. He ordered officials to immediately seize vehicles being used in an unauthorised and illegal manner. 

Several candidates have also been implicated in alleged violations of the Model Code of Conduct. Among them, three vehicles used for the campaign of Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate from the Barh assembly constituency, Karnveer Singh Yadav alias Lallu Mukhiya, were seized, and an FIR has been registered against the candidate. 

Meanwhile, a case of Model Code of Conduct violation was registered on Sunday against the election agent of the LJP (R) candidate from the Bakhtiyarpur assembly constituency, Arun Kumar Sah. 

CO Niranjan Suman stated that the agent had obtained permission for a roadshow for LJP leader and Union Minister Chirag Paswan from 12 noon to 5 pm, but a video was shared showing the roadshow passing by the block office at 5:56 pm.

Meanwhile, the campaign vehicle of RJD MLA from Maner, Bhai Virendra, was seized by the SDO for having more loudspeakers than permitted. It is worth noting that intensive vehicle inspections are being conducted under the supervision of Sub-Divisional Officers and Sub-Divisional Police Officers across all six sub-divisions.
