The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance has announced the seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections. As part of the negotiations, the BJP and the JDU will contest on 101 seats each.

Chirag Paswan's LJP (RV) will contest 29 seats in the upcoming polls. The other constituents of NDA, Upendra Kushwaha's Rashtriya Lok Morcha and Jitan Ram Manjhi's HAM will contest on six seats each.

The announcement was made by BJP's Bihar poll in-charge Dharmedra Pradhan. Meanwhile, a meeting of the party's Central Election Committee, attended by PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP president JP Nadda, Bihar in-charge Vinod Tawde, Dharmendra Pradhan, Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary and other top leaders.

The announcement came after days of deliberations and speculations of dicontent. There were reports of smaller allies like HAM and LJP (RV) demanding more seats, making seat-sharing talks difficult.

BJP, JDU to contest less seats this time

However, the constituents remained firm saying that the talks were going on positively. In the latest arrangement, both the BJP and JDU has reduced their claims from the 2020 elections' 110 and 115 respectively.

Back then, Mukesh Sahni's VIP was part of the NDA, who has switched sides this time to Tejashwi's camp, and LJP (RV) contested alone on 134 seats.

HAM, which has been with the NDA, has also saw a reduction of one seat as part of the seat-sharing formula. In 2020, it contested 7 seats which has now been reduced to 6.

How did JDU, HAM react?

JDU national spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan Prasad said that the seat sharing laid the foundation of big victory. He said, "Definitely, the foundation of a big win was laid today. We were saying that seat-sharing arrangement will be finalised today. The number of seats the parties are getting is now in public domain. The popularity of CM Nitish Kumar, charisma of PM Narendra Modi are working, the magic of both the leaders is happening in Bihar. After the seat-sharing, we will further towards scripting a big win."

Reacting to the seat-sharing formula, Jitan Ram Manjhi said, "In the Parliament, we were given only one seat, were we upset? Similarly, if we got only 6 seats, it is the decision of the high command. We accept it... We are content with what we have been given. I have no complaints..."
