Bihar Election 2025: Bihar Chief Minister and National Democratic Alliance's leading face Nitish Kumar on Thursday slammed the Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav (without taking his name) for luring the women voters ahead of the Bihar Assembly election. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Kumar stated that the opposition has been announcing unrealistic schemes for the 'Jeevika Didis' (women working for the rural development) to seek their votes. The chief minister further stated that the Lalu Yadav-led RJD government did nothing for the women during its tenure. Ahead of the polls, both the key alliances have announced multiple schemes for the women, indicating the gender's significance in Bihar's politics.
"A few days before the elections, some people are trying to appear as well-wishers of the Jeevika Didis and half of Bihar's population. The truth is that, in the name of "Jeevika Didis," these people are seeking livelihoods for their own families. They are talking about bringing down the moon and stars for half the population.," Kumar stated in his post in Hindi.

"The people of Bihar gave these people a chance, but they were more focused on enjoying the fruits than serving the people. During their tenure, women's development was limited to their families. The pain and suffering and the scourge of jungle raj that Bihar's women endured under their rule is no secret," he added. Earlier on Wednesday, Tejashwi Yadav promised government jobs and a Rs 30,000 monthly salary for women associated with the Jeevika scheme, further slamming the NDA government for exploiting them.
"All of you are aware that injustice was done to the Jeevika Didis under this government. We have decided that all Jeevika CM Didis will be made permanent and accorded the status of government employees. Their salary will also be increased to Rs 30,000 per month. This is not an ordinary announcement -- it has been the long-standing demand of Jeevika Didis," he stated in a press conference.
