Bihar Elections: With just few weeks remaining in the much-hyped Bihar Assembly election, the seat-sharing formula in the Mahagathbandhan alliance has not been finalised yet. The two largest parties of the alliance, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress are dealing with the high demands from the smaller allies, including Mukesh Sahni's Vikashseel Insaan Party (VIP), left parties and newly included JMM. Apart from this, there are few seats being claimed by the two parties of the alliance, further complicating the ticket distribution talks. The opposition leaders on Wednesday assured that the seat sharing formula is ready and an official announcement is expected by the end of this week.

Both the VIP and Congress have expressed desires to contest several key seats, including Bagaha, Valmikinagar, and Ramnagar, reported Jagran.Com. The reports further suggest that VIP's candidate is likely to contest Bagaha seat, a stronghold for Congress for past few decades. The constituency has been dominated by the grand old party for 33 years; however, it lost to BJP in the assembly election of 2015 and 2020.

While the allies of Mahagathbandhan are questioning Congress' grip over the constituency, the grand old party stated that it was in a direct contest with the BJP despite no major rallies from the top leaders. The regional Congress leaders have registered their protest amid the seat-sharing talks, signalling a possible friendly contest if VIP contests the seat.

A key meeting of the opposition leaders was held in the national capital Delhi, attended by top leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Ajay Maken, RJD senior leaders Lalu Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav. The election in Bihar is will be held in two phases- November 6 and 11. The results for the much-hyped election will be announced on November 14.
