Bihar Assembly Elections 2025: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday released the second list of candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, featuring Maithili Thakur, the folk singer, who is contesting from Alinagar. Upon joining the party and receiving a nod to contest the upcoming elections, Thakur called herself the “daughter of Mithila.”
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Maithili Thakur addressed various topics, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and her reason for joining politics, Hindustan Times reported.
Maithili Thakur Speaks Out On PM Modi, Reasons For Joining Politics
- The folk singer spoke about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, stating, “I am very impressed with PM Modi and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar. Drawing inspiration from them, I am here to support them.”
- Speaking about her reason to join politics, Thakur said that the decision was motivated not by personal ambition but by a desire to serve the people. “I do not believe that joining a political party makes you a politician; I am here to serve society and take their ideology to each and every person,” she said.
- On her roots and connection to her “homeland”, Bihar, she called herself the “daughter of Mithila.” She further expressed that her roots and identity are deeply rooted in her homeland, saying, “My soul resides in Mithila.”
- Speaking about her future role in the BJP, Maithili Thakur said, “The party will know what they have in mind for me; I am here just to support them. I will do whatever the party orders.”
Maithili Thakur, born on July 25, 2000, in Madhubani, Bihar, is a folk and classical singer who rose to prominence through her performances with her two brothers on social media. She received training in Indian classical and folk music from her father and grandfather. She gained national fame as the runner-up of the singing reality show Rising Star.
