Bihar Elections: As the dates of the Bihar Assembly poll approach, a third front led by Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM seems imminent. This alliance has been named the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) and comprises Chandrashekhar Azad’s Azad Samaj Party (ASP) and the Apna Janata Party (AJP) of Swami Prasad Maurya. They can give a good fight to JDU, the BJP-led NDA alliance and the Mahagathbandhan.

AIMIM decided to form the third front, after Owaisi’s party was not included in the Mahagathbandhan due to a clash of voter base with the RJD. In a press conference held in Kishanganj on Wednesday, AIMIM state president Akhtarul Iman said, “The party has allied with secular parties to stop communal forces in the upcoming state elections.”

How Many Seats For Each Party Of The Alliance?

The AIMIM state president said the party will contest in 35 seats, while the Azad Samaj Party will fight on 25 seats. The AJP will be fighting in four seats. It remains to be seen how much this alliance will hurt other parties in the elections.

Iman highlighted the fact that decreasing the number of seats on which the alliance will be fighting the election is mutually decided by all the stakeholders of the election. “Our national president has insisted that we contest elections on a limited number of seats. We should contest where we have already worked,” the AIMIM state president added.

The candidates list has not been announced. The party is holding its own meeting, and the announcement will be made only after that. The issue is that larger parties have to prepare a larger list of candidates. There is no separate date for them.

“Our real fight is not to gain power, but to establish justice in the country,” Akhtarul Iman said, mentioning that the candidate list will be announced by late tomorrow (Thursday). The AIMIM state president said that the candidates have been finalised already, and the list remains the last step.

Azad Samaj Party State President Johar Azad, State Secretary Vikram Kumar, District President Wasim Akram Khan, State Spokesperson Adil Hasan, and others were present at the press conference.
