Bihar Election: Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) released the first list comprising 51 candidates ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections. Renowned mathematician K C Sinha is among those named in the JSP candidate list. The list has several professionals, including retired bureaucrats, lawyers, doctors, academics, and social workers, as promised by Prashant Kishor.
K C Sinha will contest on the JSP ticket from the Kumhrar Assembly constituency, which falls in the Patna district. The Jan Suraj Party has kept the caste factor in mind while fielding the mathematician, who belongs to the general caste.
Kumhrar, a stronghold of the BJP, has been secured three times in a row by the saffron party’s candidate, Arun Kumar Sinha till 2020.
Who Is KC Sinha?
Born in 1954, in Bihar’s Bhojpur district, KC Sinha is a renowned mathematician who has authored over 70 books that are currently part of the school curriculum in more than 30 states.
Sinha wrote his first book on Coordinate Geometry at the age of 28.
A meritorious student from a young age, Sinha topped the state board examinations and shifted to Patna on a National Merit Scholarship. Subsequently, he got himself enrolled in Patna Science College for his intermediate degree.
He completed his bachelor's degree from the same university, while he completed his master's from Patna University.
Besides writing, KC Sinha has also served as the vice chancellor of several universities, including Patna University, Nalanda Open University and Magadh University.
He was also the recipient of awards like ‘Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Shiksha Purashkar’ and ‘Icons of Bihar’.
Apart from academics, Sinha has a philanthropic side as well. He was part of several initiatives aimed at providing quality education to the underprivileged children and training students for JEE free of cost.

The Jan Suraaj Party has also fielded famous Bhojpuri singer Ritesh Ranjan Pandey, who will contest from Kargahar. Two doctors also find their names in the list, Dr BB Prasad from Dhaka and Dr AK Das, a noted physician from Muzaffarpur.
The list of 51 candidates does not mention the seat from where Prashant Kishor will contest the elections, keeping the media scrutiny and speculation alive. With Ritesh Ranjan contesting from Kargahar, Kishor is expected to contest the Bihar elections from Raghopur, a seat currently held by RJD leader and former Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav.
