The incessant rain in North Bihar and Nepal led to severe flooding in Bihar, with several rivers, including Gandak, Burhi Gandak, Bagmati, Adhwara, Kamla Balan, Parman, Kosi and Mahananda, flowing above the danger level. The rising waters have created a dangerous situation, particularly in the catchment areas.

Floodwater flooded numerous villages across West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Muzaffarpur, Madhubani, Sitamarhi, Khagaria, Purnea, Kishanganj and other districts in North Bihar and Seemanchal regions. Many residents from low-lying areas have sought refuge on roads or migrated to higher ground as the low-lying areas have been severely affected.

According to the Central Water Commission, several rivers are significantly above the danger mark. The Gandak River was measured at 107 cm above the danger mark at Dumriya Ghat in Gopalganj and above the danger mark at Reva Ghat in Muzaffarpur.
