Chamoli: A group of labourers working to clear the blocked Badrinath National Highway, had a narrow escape on Thursday afternoon when debris and stones began cracking and tumbling down at their worksite. Sensing the danger, these workers fled for their lives instantly, and no one has been reported hurt as of yet.
This video was shared by Chamoli police on its social media handle 'X'. The post stated that there is a blockage in the road's entrance owing to stones that are falling from the hill near the Joshimath dumping site regularly. The people are asked to keep patience.
Notably, the Badrinath National Highway, which has been plagued by landslides for the last week, is about to reopen thanks to the quick action of the Chamoli administration.

When this took place, the Border Road Organisation (BRO), the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the local police, and the local authorities were working rapidly to open this roadway. Suddenly, rocks and other debris began to fall on the labourers who were constructing the Badrinath roadway. Workers panicked and bolted for their lives. As of yet, no harm or causality has been reported.
The Badrinath highway near Joshimath has been blocked for the last three days because of debris that has fallen onto the road. There was even a big rock that hit the site's drilling machine. On the second day, despite attempts, the roadway did not reopen, keeping travelers stuck in their cars all night. Regretfully, the condition of the road hasn't changed at all, and some 3,000 pilgrims are still stuck.
