In a major relief for government school teachers posted far from their homes, the Bihar Education Department has introduced the facility of inter-district transfers. Teachers can now apply online through the e-Shiksha Kosh portal, choosing districts of their preference.
According to officials, the application process has already begun and will remain open until September 13, with no extensions. Teachers must log in with their ID, select the Inter-District Transfer option, and provide details, including marital status and home district. They can prioritise up to three districts and make corrections before final submission.

However, the department clarified that teachers who have already availed of mutual transfers or those appointed under BPSC TRE-3 are not eligible for this facility.
The move has raised hopes among thousands of teachers, particularly couples working in different districts, who have long demanded such a policy. “This decision will finally help many teachers reunite with their families,” said a senior teacher.
