Meerut’s internal road network is set for a major transformation along with the Rapid Metro corridor. Under the CM Grid Yojana, construction has started on the stretch from Bachcha Park to Commissioner’s Crossing and from Commissioner’s Residence Crossing to Circuit House.

Mayor Harikant Ahluwalia, accompanied by Cantt MLA Amit Agarwal and BJP Metropolitan President Vivek Rastogi, inaugurated the projects on Saturday. The initiative aims to give commuters an experience comparable to Bengaluru’s roads within 15 months.

According to officials, the roads will feature underground power cables, modern drainage, pavements on both sides, designated parking zones, ducts for telecom lines, and drinking water pipelines. The 1.62 km Bachcha Park-Commissioner’s Crossing road will cost Rs 27 crore, while the 1.02 km Commissioner’s Residence-Circuit House road is budgeted at Rs 20 crore.

The projects, worth a total of Rs 47 crore, have been awarded to GS Express Pvt. Ltd. and RCC Developers, who will also maintain the roads for five years. Traffic diversions will be implemented during construction.
