The Bihar Council of Ministers has approved significant funding for two major urban infrastructure projects in Bihar—Rs 400 crore for the Sewerage Network Project (STP) in Motihari and Rs 156 crore for the Water Supply Scheme in Buxar.

Urban Development and Housing Department Minister Jivesh Kumar expressed satisfaction with the approval, stating that the initiatives will help realise the vision of a "Chakachak Motihari" and address the long-standing drinking water issues in Buxar.

As per departmental details, the Motihari Sewerage Network Project will lay 187 kilometers of sewer lines to connect 30,000 households across 32 wards. The project also includes the construction of four intermediate pumping stations and 800 meters of rising main pipeline. The project will be executed under AMRUT 2.0 by Budco.

Meanwhile, the Buxar Water Supply Scheme involves the installation of 10 tube wells, 10 chlorinator-equipped pump houses, four water towers with their respective campuses, 10.20 kilometers of rising main, and a 236-kilometer water distribution network. The scheme aims to provide potable water connections to 16,603 households in the region.
