To ease the burden of human activities on Patna’s iconic Gandhi Maidan, five large grounds will be developed in the JP Ganga Path area. The Urban Development Department and concerned officials have been directed to identify suitable land for this purpose.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, while reviewing the District Steering Committee under the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Urban Development Scheme, stressed the need for alternative spaces to Gandhi Maidan to support the city’s rapid development.
During the meeting with MLAs and senior officials of Patna district, Chaudhary emphasised the importance of avoiding duplication in infrastructure projects like roads and buildings. He pointed out that repeating the same work through different agencies wastes both time and resources, and called for better inter-departmental coordination.
Under the Samagra Shahari Vikas Yojana, Chaudhary instructed that missing road links of up to 300 meters from main roads should be completed to ensure seamless connectivity. He also directed that drainage systems must be constructed alongside roads and that foundation stone-laying ceremonies should only take place once all project plans are clearly mapped out.
To avoid redundancy, he advised that urban local bodies should refrain from including projects already proposed by MLAs in their plans. Urban Development Minister Jivesh Kumar and Assembly Speaker Nandkishore Yadav also shared their perspectives during the meeting.
