The Revenue and Land Reforms Department of Bihar, has created 185 new positions to streamline the land acquisition process for infrastructure projects. These positions, all within the Revenue Service, aim to address the large-scale land acquisition needs arising from the Union Budget 2025 and State Cabinet decisions.
According to Additional Chief Secretary Deepak Kumar Singh, land acquisition is currently underway for various infrastructure projects, including national highways, railways, major bridges, hospitals, river-linking initiatives, and the construction of new embankments.
The government is also focused on new airport construction and expansion, further increasing the demand for land. Of the 185 new positions, 104 are for Additional District Land Acquisition Officers and 81 are for Revenue Officer-cum-Law Clerks (Land Acquisition). This will bring the total number of officers in each role to three per district.
The annual cost to the state government for these new positions is estimated at around Rs 13 crore. This initiative is expected to expedite land acquisition for projects, which has previously suffered from delays due to staff shortages, leading to increased project costs.
