Marriage registration in Bihar can now be completed online, similar to land and flat registrations. This new service is available through the Registration Department’s e-registration software, which has been implemented as part of a pilot project in five registration offices: Jehanabad, Danapur, Bihta, Patna City and Fatuha.

Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department Minister Ratnesh Sada instructed the implementation of this software across all registration offices in the state. During a review meeting, officials briefed the minister on the software's capabilities, which also include online registration for land, flats and MVR value, as well as stamp duty calculations. The software features e-KYC, allowing parties to complete their registrations without multiple office visits.

Bihar Minister Ratnesh Sada emphasised the need for swift preparations to extend the software's use statewide and instructed officials to assist the public efficiently in the registration process. The minister also welcomed 24 newly appointed sub-registrars and joint sub-registrars with mementoes.

By August 10, the department had collected Rs 2,733.55 crores, slightly surpassing the target of Rs 2,732 crores. Districts including Ara, Araria, Saharsa and Madhepura have shown strong performance in revenue collection.
