The Bihar government will recruit 27,375 ASHA workers within the next three months. The selection process in rural areas will be conducted through Gram Sabhas, with local chiefs overseeing the implementation. In urban areas, local ward councilors will play a key role.

This decision was made during a high-level meeting of the State Health Committee chaired by Health Minister Mangal Pandey. A total of 21,009 ASHA workers will be selected for rural areas and 5,316 for urban areas. In addition, 1,050 ASHA facilitators will be recruited.

The minister directed officials to expedite the recruitment process, which is targeted for completion within three months. He emphasised that ASHA workers serve as primary healthcare providers at the community level. Minister Pandey highlighted the ongoing departmental recruitments under the guidance of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, with advertisements already issued for 35,383 various positions.

Pandey also directed officials to expedite recruitments for Community Health Officers, specialist doctors, medical officers, and AYUSH physicians. Minister Pandey reviewed the status of healthcare services in state hospitals, including dialysis, emergency care, and pathology testing, and instructed that all patients receive convenient access to medical facilities.
