Creches (cradle houses) will soon be set up for children at brick kilns, offering a safe space for children under six years of age. These centres will not only provide day-care services but also pre-schooling facilities. The Labour Resources Department has begun formulating an action plan for this initiative, aimed at supporting working mothers and enhancing the overall well-being of their young children.
The main objectives of setting up these creches are to ensure the proper care, nutrition, and health of children, along with promoting their physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development. Pre-school education will also be provided to children aged three to six years.
According to the Labour Superintendent's office, the crèches will be constructed temporarily using bamboo or similar materials near clusters of brick kilns, with the support of employers. These centres will allow children to be cared for in groups under proper guidance and supervision.

Each crèche will be associated with an ASHA worker, who will be responsible for monitoring the children’s vaccination programs. Children attending the crèches will also benefit from child care services such as take-home rations and routine immunisation.
Furthermore, each creche will be linked to the nearest Anganwadi Centre or Public Health Centre to ensure access to health services like vaccinations and polio drops. In case of serious health concerns, arrangements will be made to take the children to private hospitals.
Adequately trained assistant planners will be involved in managing the crèches, and support from the Bihar Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board will also be sought for the successful execution of this plan.
