With the inauguration of vehicle movement on the 20.5 km long JP Ganga Path from Digha to Didarganj on Thursday, decades-old traffic woes in Patna City finally saw a major breakthrough. For lakhs of residents and traders of Patna Sahib, the moment felt nothing short of a long-cherished dream turning into reality. Amidst heavy rain, strong winds, and the sacred sounds of the Ganga, the launch of this expressway marked a historic milestone.
The opening of JP Ganga Path is expected to revitalise business activities in nearly half a dozen ancient markets of Patna City. Improved connectivity is set to usher in economic prosperity and give a much-needed boost to tourism. Traders from across the state can now reach Patna City with ease, thanks to this strategic route.
By linking North Bihar through Didarganj, Kachchi Dargah, National Highway-30, Bidupur Six Lane Bridge, and Raghopur, the new path is likely to reduce vehicular pressure on the often-congested Gandhi Setu. Locals believe that this expressway has paved the way for widespread development across Patna, Patna City, and North Bihar. Many in Patna Sahib are calling it a significant gift from the government.

With the commencement of light vehicle movement on JP Ganga Path up to Didarganj, the traffic burden on NH-30 is also expected to decrease, allowing smoother flow for heavy vehicles.
Importantly, access to several major institutions — including Patna Medical College Hospital, Nalanda Medical College Hospital, Shri Guru Gobind Singh Sadar Hospital, Rajendra Memorial Research Institute, the Regional Unani Research Institute, and various educational and training centers like ITI, Government Polytechnic Gulzarbagh, and the Bihar Judicial Training Centre — has become significantly quicker.
The route is also seen as a game-changer for tourism. Travel to key religious and cultural landmarks such as Badi Patna Devi, Gaighat Gurudwara, Handi Sahib Gurudwara, Maa Sheetla Temple, Chitragupta Temple, Khanqah Munaemia, Takht Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib, and many others is now much easier from across the capital via JP Ganga Path.
Overall, the JP Ganga Path stands as a beacon of development, transforming connectivity, easing transportation, and opening doors to new opportunities across Patna and beyond.
