The Building Construction Department will launch a special inspection drive on April 11 to assess the quality of ongoing construction work of Panchayat Government Buildings. A total of 87 assistant engineers, currently posted across various divisions, have been assigned this task. These engineers will inspect buildings located in divisions other than their own and submit detailed reports to the headquarters.

The inspection campaign will cover 345 panchayats across 112 blocks. This decision was taken during a review meeting chaired by Building Construction Secretary Kumar Ravi. During the meeting, officials informed the secretary that construction work for 651 buildings has reached the plinth level, while ground floor construction has been completed for 136 buildings. Finishing work is currently underway in nine Panchayat Government Buildings.

Secretary Kumar Ravi emphasised that the Panchayat Government Buildings scheme is a priority initiative of the state government. He directed that construction must adhere strictly to quality standards and norms. He also instructed all executive engineers to personally supervise contractors’ work in their respective divisions and warned that lack of progress in construction would invite strict action.

Further, he stressed that updates on construction progress must be regularly uploaded to the PSB portal. He assured that any complaints related to construction quality would be treated with utmost seriousness and appropriate action would be taken against the responsible officials.

A deadline has been set to complete the construction of all buildings by June. Senior departmental officials, including Chief Engineers and other key personnel, participated in the meeting via online mode.
