Bihar: Names Of Retired, Deceased Teachers Found In Salary Portal; Education Dept Orders Immediate Cleanup

A major data irregularity has been detected in the salary payment portal used for teachers in Bihar government schools. During a review meeting on Wednesday, it was revealed that the names of retired and deceased teachers have been incorrectly included in the data uploaded by District Education Officers (DEOs) to the Education Department’s portal.

Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department, Dr B Rajender, has ordered that the erroneous data be removed from the portal by Thursday. He also directed that the officials and staff responsible for this negligence in the districts be identified and appropriate action taken.

The review meeting assessed the status of salary payments for teachers and staff. It found that 99 per cent of teachers and employees have received their salaries. In Darbhanga, 97 per cent of teachers have been paid, while the figure stands at 98 per cent in Vaishali and Samastipur.

The data issues were traced to entries of retired, resigned and deceased teachers and staff, which have been wrongly included in the portal. Dr Rajender instructed that all such names be removed immediately to ensure accurate records.

It was also reported that a list of teachers who have not received their December salary has been uploaded to Google Drive by the headquarters. The Additional Chief Secretary directed that for each teacher whose salary is pending, the reason for non-payment must be updated and published on the district website within two days. He emphasised that salary payments for the remaining teachers must be completed within a week.
