In preparation for the summer season, maintenance work of power infrastructure is being expedited across North and South Bihar. All Superintending Engineers, Power Supply Zones, and Electrical Executive Engineers have been directed to take charge of maintaining 33/11 KV feeders, LT lines, transformers, and Power Substations (PSS) within their jurisdictions, with monitoring being ensured from the headquarters level.

Energy Department Secretary and BSPHCL CMD, Pankaj Kumar Pal, emphasised that pre-summer inspection and maintenance of power systems is essential to meet rising electricity demand.

Kumar said extensive groundwork is underway to ensure uninterrupted and efficient power supply, including cleaning of plants and transformer inspections. Field teams are also trimming tree branches near power lines to prevent disruptions.

Maintenance guidelines include cleaning PSS yards and control rooms, ensuring proper lighting, updating logbooks, and checking the availability of essential items like gloves, torches, and first aid kits.

Instructions have also been issued to balance load across 11 KV feeders, inspect and repair transformers, poles, and wires, and replace or repair insulators and jumpers. Additionally, removal of scrap from PSS yards has been mandated.
