In a major relief for the people of Bihar, the state government has announced to operation of 149 deluxe buses to Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and West Bengal on a daily basis.
The initiative has been announced by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and is likely to benefit 6,000 passengers daily. The state government will purchase 75 AC deluxe buses at an estimated cost of Rs 74 lakh per bus and 74 non-AC deluxe buses at the rate of Rs 68 lakh per bus.
The government will provide a total of Rs 55.50 crore for AC Deluxe and Rs 50.32 crore for non-AC Deluxe buses to Bihar State Road Transport Corporation as an assistance grant.

Apart from this, keeping in mind the convenience of workers and other passengers on the occasion of Durga Puja, Diwali, Chhath, and Holi, the government has also planned to operate 150 new AC buses under the Public-Private Partnership Model (PPP).
These buses will go to major states like Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and West Bengal. Hence, three schemes for the operation of a total of 299 AC/non-AC deluxe buses on interstate routes have been approved by the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation.
Reacting to the government's move, Transport Secretary Sandeep Kumar R Pudkalkatti said that the start of operation of new buses will strengthen the interstate public transport system.
The operation of modern and comfortable buses will make the travel of citizens more convenient, safe, and economical. Moreover, new employment opportunities will also be generated at the local level.
As thousands of people move out of the state to work and earn a livelihood in states like Punjab, Delhi, Haryana and UP. Given that, the move will greatly benefit the workers and passengers working outside the state.
