Work on the Smart City sewerage scheme in Muzaffarpur remains incomplete, even after the project deadline was extended for the fourth time to August 31. The scheme, aimed at connecting 5,000 homes to the sewer line, still has pending tasks, including the completion of one of the three pumping stations.
Senior Technical Manager of the Smart City company, Prem Dev Sharma, stated that the sewerage treatment plant (STP) at Daudpur Kothi is expected to be completed and commissioned by the end of October.

Testing is currently underway, and once operational, the STP will treat wastewater from surrounding wards and discharge it into Sikandarpur Man (lake). Work is also ongoing under the Smart City plan to treat sewage from 8,000 homes in the ADB Area.
Meanwhile, Samastipur DRM Jyoti Prakash Mishra expressed strong dissatisfaction over the slow pace of development at Muzaffarpur Junction. On Saturday, he conducted an unscheduled inspection of the station, reviewing all previously assigned tasks.
While improvements were noted, he directed officials to enhance cleanliness and urged the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) to expedite the delayed construction of platforms one and six, which were due for completion on August 30.
Though the construction agency submitted a letter to the Inspector of Works (IOW) for line fitness certification, discrepancies were found in some areas, prompting the IOW to notify the RLDA. The DRM personally spoke with RLDA officials to accelerate the work.
During the visit, DRM Mishra also inspected the washing pit at Jivdhara station, intended for Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat trains, and instructed officials to complete the project quickly. Area Officer Ravi Shankar Mahto, RPF Inspector Manish Kumar, Station Manager Akhilesh, and other officials accompanied him during the inspection.
