Bihar News: Residents of Bihar can now file police complaints online without visiting a police station, as the state government has introduced a dedicated Citizen Service Portal under the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS). Once an online complaint is submitted, it will be forwarded digitally to the concerned police station and an FIR will be registered after verification. Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Choudhary launched the portal at the police headquarters on Saturday.
Bihar Citizen Service Portal: Some Services Available Without Login
The portal offers more than a dozen police-related services. Three of these can be accessed without logging in: obtaining a copy of an FIR, sharing confidential information and providing details about wanted or notorious criminals. To download an FIR copy, users must complete OTP verification on their mobile phone.
Speaking at the launch, Home Minister Choudhary said the Bihar Police aims to make public services more accessible through digital platforms. He said citizens can now apply for police verification, register senior citizens, file e-complaints and submit reports for lost or found property online. Many services that earlier required a visit to the police station can now be completed from home.
Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department Arvind Kumar Chaudhary and DGP Vinay Kumar were also present during the launch.

To submit specific requests, such as an e-complaint, information about unidentified bodies, details of arrested or wanted persons, tenant verification, domestic help verification, driver verification, reports on missing or kidnapped persons or any previous character verification- citizens must log in to the portal. Registration requires basic details such as name and mobile number.
A separate online form for seeking permission for processions is also available.
The Home Minister noted that the new system will reduce the need for repeated visits to police stations, allowing people to quickly access essential services. He said the portal is designed to improve transparency, convenience and public trust in police operations.
