In a major push to strengthen Bihar's healthcare system, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday distributed appointment letters to 7,468 newly appointed Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) during a ceremony held at the ‘Samvad’ hall in the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister symbolically handed over appointment letters to five candidates — Mona Kumari, Neelu Kumari, Amrita Kumari, Priya Sinha, and Reema Kumari — and extended his best wishes to all the newly appointed health workers. “I trust that all the appointees will fulfil their duties with utmost honesty and dedication,” he said, addressing the gathering.

The event was attended by several senior officials and dignitaries, including Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Health Minister Mangal Pandey, and Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary.

Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Pratyaya Amrit welcomed the Chief Minister with a symbolic green plant. Other key officials present included Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena, Health Secretary Lokesh Kumar Singh, Executive Director of State Health Committee Suharsh Bhagat, and Managing Director of Bihar Health Services and Infrastructure Corporation Ltd. Nilesh Deore, along with several ANMs who received their appointment letters during the function.

The recruitment of ANMs is expected to bolster frontline healthcare services, especially in rural and underserved areas across the state.
