A clash broke out between villagers and the police on Friday morning in Dullamchak village, within the jurisdiction of Chauri police station in Bhojpur district, the day after polling.

According to the reports, villagers had caught two armed suspects, residents of Gulzarpur, who had entered the village, and were beating them. When the police arrived to rescue the suspects from the crowd, the villagers confronted them.

During the scuffle, both suspects managed to flee, prompting the villagers to accuse the police of allowing their escape. The villagers then attacked the personnel with bricks and stones, injuring a sub-inspector and a watchman in the attack.

The crowd smashed the windows of half a dozen police vehicles, as well as two or three private vehicles. Upon receiving information about the incident, several police officials, including SDPO KK Singh, arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control.

A country-made pistol has been recovered from the suspects who fled during the clash. It is being reported that a clash had also occurred in the village on Thursday, the day of polling, due to electoral rivalry. A tense situation had prevailed since then.
