Bihar Police SI 2026 Exam: Why Did BPSSC Cancel Mains Exam For 1,799 Daroga Posts?

Bihar Police SI 2026 Exam Cancellation: In a major development, the Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) on Wednesday cancelled the main written exam conducted for the recruitment of Sub-Inspector posts in Bihar. 

According to the official notification, the main written examination, conducted in two shifts on May 27, 2026, has been cancelled due to unavoidable reasons. Although the notification does not specify the exact technical or administrative grounds for the cancellation, the Commission clarified that this step was taken with the integrity of the examination and the interests of the candidates in mind.

Allegations of Irregularities in the SI Mains result:

The prelims examination for the recruitment of 1,799 Bihar Police Sub-Inspectors was conducted between January 18 and January 21, 2026. After the prelims result declaration on March 16, 2026, 35,857 Candidates were shortlisted for the main examination based on their scores. Subsequently, the main examination for the Sub-Inspector post was held in two shifts on May 27.

The General Hindi paper was conducted in the first shift, while the General Studies paper took place in the second shift. Following the declaration of results, allegations of irregularities surfaced. A major question arose when it was observed that, at 79 locations, 301 candidates sitting in consecutive rows had passed the exam.

Demands for Cancellation of the SI examination 2026:

An FIR was lodged against a 'solver syndicate' at the Rampur police station in Gaya on the very day of the examination. Additionally, a case related to this matter was also registered in Purnia in June. Candidates alleged that the Commission failed to filter out suspicious candidates from the main examination results.

Furthermore, question papers and OMR sheets went viral on social media. Students possessed evidence and photographs related to these issues, which they submitted to the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) and the Commission. Citing these alleged irregularities, candidates were demanding the cancellation of this Sub-Inspector recruitment examination.

When Will the New Exam Date Be Announced?

The BPSSC has clarified that a new date for the cancelled main written examination will be announced separately. As of now, the Commission has not released the new exam date; therefore, candidates who appeared for the exam will have to wait for the announcement of the new schedule.
