Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday announced that the state government will operate 299 additional buses during the upcoming festivals to manage the gathering. "People from Bihar return home in large numbers from Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and West Bengal, especially during festivals like Chhath, Holi, Diwali, and Durga Puja. They face significant difficulties while traveling to Bihar for these festivals. To make the journey smoother and more convenient for those coming to Bihar, our government is continuously making efforts. As part of this initiative, the state government is set to operate 299 A.C. and non-A.C. buses on interstate routes connected to Bihar," CM Kumar stated in a post on X.

"This was approved in the cabinet meeting held on June 24, 2025. The state government will spend Rs 105.82 crore rupees on the purchase of 75 air-conditioned and 74 deluxe buses. Additionally, under public-private partnership, 150 more A.C. buses will be operated. The state government will also request the central government to run additional special trains during festivals, particularly Chhath, Holi, Diwali, and Durga Puja. This will make it more convenient for people to travel to Bihar during festivals, allowing them to reach their homes comfortably," he added.
Earlier last year, a lot of passengers had to struggle during Chhath and Diwali due to a shortage of trains and buses. Nitish Kumar had assured that the government will operate more buses from next year to provide convenience to the passengers.
