List Of Vehicles Restricted On Two Major Gurugram Highways
Two-wheelers such as motorcycles and scooters, three-wheelers including e-rickshaws and e-carts, non-motorised vehicles, agricultural tractors, multi-axle hydraulic trailers, and quadricycles are banned from using the main lanes of the Delhi-Jaipur Highway (National Highway-48) from the Sirhaul border to Kherki Daula, as well as the Dwarka Expressway from Kherki Daula to the Delhi border. Drivers must use the designated service lanes to prevent potential accidents.
To ensure compliance, the Gurgaon Traffic Police have warned that offenders will face penalties under the Motor Vehicles Act. They have also conducted awareness campaigns at key junctions along these routes to educate the public.
Reason Behind The Restrictions
The recent development follows two accidents on NH-48 this month.
On June 21, Delhi Police Head Constable Ashok Kumar, 39, died when the state transport bus he was traveling in overturned. The bus was en route to Jaipur when the accident occurred. According to Birender Singh, Sub-Inspector at Bilaspur Police Station, the driver swerved to avoid a WagonR near Panchgaon Chowk after applying brakes. Kumar was from Molawas village in Rajasthan’s Alwar district.

Sumit Meena and four friends were traveling from Alwar to Delhi in a Hyundai i20 near Mannat Hotel at Sidhravali around 3:30 am when their vehicle collided with an unidentified large vehicle. Sumit’s father, Kamal Singh Meena, filed a complaint at Bilaspur Police Station, alleging negligent driving by Sumit’s friend, who was behind the wheel.
