To enhance educational opportunities for rural residents and students, libraries will be established in Panchayat Bhawans across Bihar’s Arwal district. Additionally, free Dish TV installations, along with furniture and other seating arrangements, will be provided. The Panchayati Raj Department’s Additional Secretary has issued official directives for this initiative.
As per the guidelines, 50 per cent of the books in these libraries will feature renowned authors from the state, 40 per cent will include works from other Indian writers, and 10 per cent will consist of books in other languages.
Literature will be the primary focus, with maximum funds allocated for literary works. These libraries will offer free access to books, benefiting village students and competitive exam aspirants.
“There are 64 gram panchayats in the district, with 16 already having completed government buildings. Construction is in progress for the remaining panchayats, with four nearing completion,” said Vinod Kumar, District Panchayati Raj Officer.
“Panchayat leaders and Block Panchayati Raj Officers have been instructed to procure books and necessary materials for the libraries. Additionally, these Panchayat Government Buildings will also house Sudha Dairy booths, post offices, and bank CSPs as per departmental directives,” he added.
