The Bihar government is set to introduce pink buses exclusively for women in four cities, starting with Patna in April. Muzaffarpur, Purnia and Bhagalpur will follow in subsequent phases. The initiative, announced in this year’s state budget, is being implemented by the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC).

To facilitate the service, BSRTC has procured 20 CNG mini buses. In the initial phase, eight pink buses will operate in Patna, while Muzaffarpur, Purnia and Bhagalpur will each have four.

The buses have been painted pink for easy identification on the roads. Additionally, special measures have been taken to ensure women’s safety, including the deployment of trained female staff in key positions such as drivers, conductors and maintenance personnel.
