The completion of e-KYC is mandatory for all ration cardholders who receive subsidised food grains. As per government directives, beneficiaries who fail to complete their e-KYC by March 31 will have their names removed from the ration card.

Despite repeated instructions, 4,45,954 beneficiaries across the district have yet to complete their e-KYC, putting them at risk of losing access to ration benefits. This figure includes both rural and urban ration cardholders.

According to official data, the total number of individuals registered under ration cards in the district stands at 18,18,873. So far, 13,62,919 beneficiaries—approximately 74.93 per cent—have completed the e-KYC process, while 25.07 per cent remain pending.

Under the National Food Security Act (2013), it is mandatory for all beneficiaries of the Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS) to complete e-KYC by March 31. The process must be completed at designated public distribution system (PDS) shops, where e-KYC is facilitated free of cost via e-POS machines.

Failure to comply will result in the removal of the beneficiary’s name from the ration card, the discontinuation of ration benefits, and ineligibility for schemes like the Ayushman Bharat Yojana.

To ensure timely completion, Block Supply Officers and PDS shopkeepers have been instructed to expedite the process, with door-to-door campaigns being considered if necessary. District Magistrate Prashant Kumar CH has emphasised the urgency of meeting the deadline to prevent any beneficiary from losing their entitlements.
