Bihar Politics: The Janata Dal (United) has fielded candidates for 44 seats in the second phase of voting scheduled for Tuesday, November 11. In its list, the party has placed a strong emphasis on legacy politics. While maintaining its traditional strongholds, the JDU also faces the challenge of managing constituencies shaped by inherited political influence. More than half a dozen of its candidates are contesting elections for the first time.

The term legacy politics here refers to constituencies where JDU candidates or their family members have been contesting and winning for decades. Among these legacy seats, Bijendra Prasad Yadav contesting from Supaul, stands out. He has held the record of serving as the state’s Energy Minister for nearly fifteen years, making him one of the most seasoned leaders in this category.
