Bihar Election 2025: The newly formed Jan Suraaj, led by poll strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor, was among the first to announce its candidates for the Bihar Assembly election. Jan Suraaj has promised to provide an alternative and a new style of politics in the state; however, the party has taken the traditional path in the ticket distribution. All the old parties, including Janata Dal United (JDU), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Congress, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), usually consider the caste equation while distributing the tickets. While Prashant Kishor claimed that the caste equation factor in Bihar is exaggerated, his party too considered the factor while fielding the candidates.
The ticket distribution of Jan Suraaj on the seven seats of Bhagalpur district suggests that the party has studied the caste demographic of these seats. Ghanshyam Das, who belongs to the Ravidas community, was given the ticket from Pirpainti, as it is a reserved (SC) seat. While the party has fielded Manjar Alam from the Muslim-dominated Kahalgaon seat, it gave a ticket to Abhaykant Jha from the Bhagalpur Urban seat, where Brahmins and other general category voters play an important role.

Apart from this, the party has fielded Pawan Chaudhary from the Bihpur seat due to the presence of 25 per cent Bhumihar voters in the region. Jan Suraaj has also tried to field an appropriate candidate from Sultanganj, a seat dominated by the Extra Backward Class (EBC) and Muslims. Prashant Kishor's party has also fielded the candidates with a political background for the upcoming polls.
Ghanshyam Das, the candidate contesting from the Pirpainti Assembly constituency, is a retired stationmaster, and his wife is a local politician. The election in Bihar is scheduled to take place in two phases on November 6 and 11, while the result will be announced on November 14.
