In a significant push to enhance transportation and technological development in Bihar, Union Railway and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Monday announced multiple high-impact projects, including the launch of four new Amrit Bharat trains and the expansion of three major railway lines worth Rs 6,173 crore.

Speaking at a press briefing at Digha Ghat station in Patna, Vaishnaw highlighted the Centre’s sustained focus on Bihar’s development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. “In the past 11 years, the railway budget for Bihar has increased ninefold. This year alone, Rs 10,000 crore has been allocated to accelerate infrastructure development,” he said, adding that several long-pending projects have been completed in recent years.

Vaishnaw also announced the approval of three major railway expansion projects:

-Bhagalpur–Jamalpur third line (53 km) – Rs 1,156 crore

-Bakhtiyarpur–Rajgir–Tilaiya doubling project (104 km) – Rs 2,017 crore

-Rampur Hat–Bhagalpur doubling project (177 km) – Rs 3,000 crore

“These network upgrades will not only strengthen passenger and freight movement but also create substantial employment and economic opportunities,” the minister stated.

To boost Bihar’s digital infrastructure, Vaishnaw confirmed the upcoming inauguration of two Software Technology Parks of India (STPIs) – one in Patliputra, built for Rs 53 crore, and another in Darbhanga, costing Rs 10 crore. He said the STPIs will serve as hubs for innovation, employment, and IT growth in the state.
