Bihar Road Construction Minister Nitin Naveen conducted an inspection of the ongoing construction work at the Kachchi Dargah-Bidupur bridge on Monday. During the visit, he instructed the construction company to expedite the work by deploying additional manpower and machinery to ensure timely completion.
The minister closely reviewed the progress of the bridge project and emphasised that the connectivity between Patna and Raghopur must be completed by June 15. Local residents raised a demand for constructing a four-kilometer road in the Pansaria Bridge Diara area via Himmatpur from the Raghopur ramp. Minister Naveen assured that approval for this scheme would be sought shortly.
Naveen also inspected a site where low water levels in the Ganga river have been causing difficulties in the operation of barges, which has delayed the launching of a segment of three spans of the bridge. Officials informed him that, with assistance from the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI), silt is being cleared using a high-power dredger to address the issue.
The minister expressed confidence that, with IWAI’s support, the bridge construction would be completed on schedule. The bridge stretches over 9.76 kilometers, with an additional 10 kilometers of approach roads, and the entire project is estimated to cost Rs 4,988 crore.
Managing Director of Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited, Shirshat Kapil Ashok, along with Chief General Managers Bablu Kumar and Ashutosh Kumar Singh, and Deputy General Manager Shankar Dayal, accompanied the minister during the inspection.
